Earth Day 2026

At our Earth Day event, we gave away simple mason jar growing kits to encourage healthy eating and fun at-home gardening.

Step 1: Soak Using Quart Jar Start with 1 package of sprouting seeds. Place seeds inside the jar and screw on the lid with the mesh. Rinse seeds in luke-warm water engulfing the seeds 3 times their depth. Let the seeds soak in a cabinet overnight (protected from light.)

Step 2: Drain Drain out the excess water out of the jar keeping the jar out of the sunlight. Lay on its side in a dark place, or with a towel over it to keep the seeds out of any standing water

Step 3: Rinse Rinse the seeds 2-3 times per day until fully sprouted. Any unsprouted or hulls will float out when the sprouts are rinsed. Rotate the jar each time you rinse to spread out the sprouts.

Step 4: Greening After fully sprouted, remove from jar and rinse. Clean the jar thoroughly and place the sprouted seeds back in the jar. Please jar in indirect sunlight to green them up for up to a day. Near a window is a great place to let them green up with chlorophyll and carotenes.

Step 5: Harvest Once fully sprouted and greened up, they are ready to harvest. Rinse, drain and add to salads or eat as a snack. They can be stored in the refrigerator in a Ziploc bag, allowing room for the sprouts to breathe. Enjoy!!!
