PERS: Wearable Response Tech

A Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) is a wearable emergency device designed to provide access to emergency services quickly after a fall or medical emergency.
If offered, your Medicare Advantage will send you a device at no additional monthly cost. In most cases, eligibility is based solely on your plan, not on medical need or conditional basis.
Did You Know?
Many Medicare Advantage plans offer this at no additional monthly cost. Eligibility and availability vary by plan.
PERS devices are especially valuable for people who live alone, have experienced a fall in the past or are considered a fall-risk; or perhaps you simply want additional peace of mind for yourself and your family. Personal distress systems have come a long way from the basic devices from later night infomercials thirty years ago. For instance, many systems can automatically detect falls, connect you with emergency responders, and even notify designated family members when assistance has been requested.
